Driving down backroads of all the places I have lived over the years has been a life highlight. Finding little hidden gems, parks, fields, buildings, pockets of light that are so magical on camera. I have lost count of how many times I have taken my mom or husband with me to location scout and I see a spot and say YUP! That’s it!! And they have both looked at me with a bewilderment and like, suure Hailey. That is what is so cool about location scouting and especially with photographers, I love to see how others use locations and use of sunlight/shadows. One is never like the other.
Photography is such an individualized art. God has given each of us our own creative vision – to see things uniquely, just like how He made us.
Last year I met this mom and daughter in Kroger grocery store, stopped to introduce myself since I just moved here and told them I would love to photograph them. We exchanged names and numbers (her name is the same as mine ironically =) ) and we have since created two amazing sessions together. Everywhere I have moved, I have connected with 1-2 families that become my muses. There is an unspoken /undefined since of connection that my camera, them and me have that I know whatever we do together, it will be exactly what it needs to be.
The silence of this location was majestic. The stillness. The softness. The peace.
I feel both of us Hailey’s needed to be reminded of the beauty in a simple, quiet space.
This nostalgic motherhood session in Little Rock, Arkansas was so special to me. I love the simple wardrobe we chose, a slip dress actually that I scored at Plato’s closet from Forever 21. Willows outfit was a H&M tank with shorts from a boutique I got a long time ago. This session was perfect for a summer photoshoot.. the heat, the sunshine, the water and dock was a perfect location for a photoshoot here in Arkansas.
